The Thoma Foundation’s Bold Initiatives grant program is proud to serve as lead funder for the OPEN HOUSE initiative at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa). Beginning in 2019, the Foundation provided matching funds to moCa’s museum-wide engagement team trained to support visitor experiences and a new Education Fellowship position dedicated to onsite engagement strategies.
Starting in November 2020, the Bold Initiatives program will be closed to applicants. A reassessment of what is truly a “bold” initiative has led us to create the Digital Changemaker in the Arts. The Digital Changemaker Grant will further the mission of the Bold Initiatives to provide seed capital to aid small and midsize institutions taking steps toward a long-term goal that will alter the fabric of the institution, while better addressing the urgency for arts and cultural organizations embracing technology.
