The Donald Judd Foundation has been awarded a grant in support of digital preservation for The Donald Judd Library Project. The Library is preserved intact as it was arranged by Donald Judd during his lifetime and is on view to the public during guided visits to The Block/La Mansana de Chinati in Marfa, Texas. In order to preserve the material arrangement of the library for future generations while also striving to make its contents publicly accessible, Judd Foundation has created the Donald Judd Library Project: a digital preservation initiative that weds the specificity and visual impact of Judd’s selections and categorizations with the broad accessibility of inter-library infrastructure. Through this groundbreaking project, both visitors to Marfa and curious viewers anywhere in the world can browse the library without removing a book from the shelves.
